    He was an elite fighter who was never the same after Kostya Tszyu wrecked him in the rematch.

    Definitely not elite. Or we have different understanding what word "elite" means. For me elite is P4P ten fighter, and Sharmba never came close to being top 10 P4P. I think he wasn't even as good as Keith Thurman. Skill level about the same, but Thurman was far more durable and hit much harder

    He was a decent, solid fighter thats about it.

    Sharmba was a much better mover and combination puncher than Keith, you're right though he wasn't anywhere near as durable and he wasn't a hitter by any means.

    Sharmba was talked about in high regard for a number of years. He wasn't even on HBO (he was a Showtime guy) and they were bringing him up constantly (even Merchant's cantankerous old ass). So I'd say he was definitely in the "elite" conversation.
