I want to train for boxing I have basketball shoes and found this Nike Cortez on sale at the mall.

What shoes are best for training? I also would like to use them for running on concrete road. Or do you need to have different shoes for different purposes?

Mate id say dont worry bout spending the money to buy seperate shoes for in the gym and for running....

I got a pair of Asics boxing shoes for when i fought but unless u wanna get right into it n fight and compete in tournaments etc i would say just get yourself a good pair of running shoes since runnin on the concrete will be pretty hard on your knees. u can also do wat i did and just double up and use them for in the gym too.

I got a pair pretty similar to these ones n they fill all my in gym n running needs.

Thanks for the advice. The Nike Cortez are on sale. Are they good running shoes?

Cortez, way too cheap. Good for running? Not really. Good for Boxing? Probably will split on you since they don't have side support for the nylon. Get a cheap pair of new balance.

Also, if you never train in boxing shoes and then attempt to finally spar wearing them? Your feet are going to hurt so bad you are going to want to wish you were dead.

Better to buy a good pair of running shoes, work out like crazy, save your boxing gym member ship money and buy a pair of Asic Matflex. Good and cheap. (Or any other cheap wrestling shoe).

You cannot purchase a better shoe than the Nike Free... I swear by them- they're light, comfy, pliable...

It's like having a sock with a sole on... Best boxing shoe and a great running shoe.

Everything else is ****. Trust me.

I have some Asics gel kensie's that are around $160 at the time, they're a good running shoe and more durable, but for doing what we do in boxing, there can be no other choice for the best...

    And they're only $85.

I read this as "Shoes for trading" .

Thought you were going for some ebay style shoe swap shop thread.
