If not, a rematch would be the most logical option. However, i doubt that Sauerland wants to go through another credibility losing scandal so i think they'll deny him a rematch. If he can get a rematch i think he should go for it, but if he can't, he'd better hang 'em up. The klits would destroy him and Chagaev, Povetkin and Haye will handle him as well. Let's not forget Ibragimov beat him by 11 to 1 rounds as well...
I think he should retire for the sake of his health,his family,his career and boxing.He's achieved a lot and has been a great athlete but you can't train your brain to take blows all your life as everyone knows,if something serious happened to him it would be another serious smear on the sport for letting him plod on.There should be a serious analysis by the boxing bodys of whether his licence should be revoked,i'm not been harsh I respect the guy and don't want to see him turn into a wreck of a man
Yes he should but he won't. If the judges had just gotten it right the Klitschkos would have taken the gentleman route and said we're not gonna unify with you, thus freezing him out of possible unification. Vitali once said on TV that he has too much respect for Holyfield to fight him and I'm sure Wladimir would echo those sentiments. Holyfield beat Valuev and everybody saw it but, with the result being what it was, he'll have more reason to continue fighting because he'll come away thinking that he gave a credible performance when in actuality it was just a case of two men doing next to nothing with Valuev doing even less.
He should get the rematch with Valuev, as old as he is, he still can hang with some of the elite fighters in the world.
Yes, Holy should retire. I have no urge to see a fighter get ruined, and Evander's had more financial and career success than 99.9% of guys that have ever laced them up. It's time he enjoyed it and stepped aside. The other thing is that all the top guys have a massive amount of respect for him, and either won't fight him or would take it easy on him if they did. That's both good and bad, because although it means nobody's going to try and take his head off, it's also keeping Holyfield fighting.
He should have retired long ago. It's been painful to watch him. And, please, no rematch. Chagaev and Valuev should settle and the winner should face one of the Klitschkos. Holyield has had many opportunities. Now is the time for a unification fight. Klitschko v Chagaev/Valuev. Nothing else makes sense.
Yes he should, but no he won't. Thanks to Valuev's tepid performance, Evander will have the motivation he needs to carry on :-(
He should retire, but he will not do that. Wilfried Sauerland himself said, that he will try to get a rematch done in Zürich, after Valuev beat Chagaev.
I'd put good money on Chagaev to outbox Valuev even better this time round. I don't think Evander would be interested in Valuev without a title, and Chagaev is the type of opponent he doesn't want to fight.
