i have sky plus and it still doesnt change the fact of watt giving terrible commentary in every fight there is - FACT
Whoever you get is going to annoy some of the people some of the time. Personally I'd like to have the option of watching a fight without a commentary just hearing the crowd noise and corners. When you're at a fight it always seems more difficult to me to score the fight. When it's on the telly who you think is winning a round is reinforced by the commentary team and it seems a lot more clear cut then when you're there. I don't mind Mccrory as a co-commentator TBH. Piper just seems happy to be there and Nelson has his own agenda. Would we prefer to have Colin 'I've been saying that for years and it gives me no pleasure to say that i was right' Hart in though?
Ya the Sky commentary was shocking bad. Halfway through the fight when Marquez was holding his own again, they were talking about whether or not he should give up. They were just following the company line because Sky know they will be putting Mayweather on box office again. ****ing terrible. Was ruining the fight for us too. Towards the end of the fight we muted the sound and got commentary off the internet.
Godknows what you are listening to and watching, showed JMM no respect, a man who deserved much more respect than he was given. Comes off as clueless in general.
Just watched the reply again. These guys should be handed a lifetime ban. They should never be able to commentate on TV again. Absolutely terrible. ****ing Puppets. Sky dont appreciate real dudes like Bunce and Oliver etc etc.
I couldn't count the times Watt said "I hope this fight doesn't reflect on what has been a tremendous career and fighter"... literally repeated that statement 4 or 5 times during the fight so god knows what you are listening to?? Watt is the Andy Gray of boxing... I am shocked he gets so much abuse on here to be honest. People just need to hate
Seeing as Andy Gray is the **** who started to hype up football to unbelievable lengths in the early 90's that isn't a good comparrison if you like Watt.
he "hyped up football" and that's why you dislike Andy Gray??? He's doing his fecking job regarding a sport he is obviously passionate about. Watt is obviously very passionate about boxing and offers a strong opinion, which is essential being a pundit. You might not agree with his opinion but I've disagreed with the majority of what you've posted so you must realise it's impossible to please everyone. I think Bunce and Watt would be a combination made in boxing heaven
I'm not sure how old you are but I'm old enough to remember how football was covered before Sky got their grubby hands on the game... Andy Gray hypes up players, teams and matches and, in turn, this has created a whole new breed of fan who talk complete and utter bollocks about football. He is also, in my opinion, to blame for the obsession in England for "exciting" football. In the 70's and 80's our top sides played good tactical football which filtered down through the 1st division and, in turn, created a league where everyone could beat everyone else and any English side in Europe had a good to excellent chance of winning a trophy. Now, thanks to him, all these twats who didn't even like football before the Premier league started demand "exciting" football and our league has become very top heavy and only the big sides have any real chance of success in European competition.
what a sadist! This has gone well off topic but I can't believe you are blaiming Andy Gray for transforming the EPL to one of the biggest earners and most exciting leagues in the world. Even the Championship has it's own branding now and is brilliant to watch I am from Scotland mate, where everyone can beat each other (apart from maybe the old filth) and I support Inverness Caley Thistle (where I attend the majority of away matches throughout a season) there is a well known saying "be careful what you ask for". The SPL and the majority of scottish football is dying a death because there is no excitement and not enough people coming to watch the game, punters or tv coverage, so if Andy Gray is responsible for the hype involved in your English League he might have saved it.
I personally believe that sport thrives on competition. When I first started to attend football the 1st division was probably the most competitve in European football if not World. Now our "Premier" league is really 3 leagues in one and you have more crap than competitive games. As for "exciting". What is exciting? Don't you find it arrogant that Sky and, in particular, Andy Gray try to dictate what people should enjoy? Lets use films as an anology. In the film world you get dramas, thrillers, art, comedies and various other genres. I bet very few people only like one of these. Same as music. So why in football is the premier league of playing the only style that can be enjoyed? All you hear these twats saying is that the Italian and German leagues are boring and yet, all it is another way of playing the match. Why can't both styles be enjoyed? Imagine if you were told that you could like either, for example, fighters in the Mayweather mould or in the Mayorga mould but not the two styles. How would you feel? Hopefully you'd realise that certain boxers are suited to particular styles and both can be enjoyed. Same as football. Certain Premier League sides would benefit by playing a more thoughtful, tactical game and yet they are encouraged to play at 100mph. The best example, perhaps, is Arsenal. Their fans have been brainwashed, by the johnny come latelys, that they are only to play one style of football and yet if they sometimes slowed the game down and played with a bit of common sense and with a tactical approach they'd probably have won more trophies. Andy Gray is honestly to blame for all of that.
Watt's a knob. Smith's even worse. We have been spoilt by Richie Woodhall, who was knowledgable and could usually be relied on to be sensible and even-handed. Believe you me.
