I would certainly favour Smith due to his physical advantages, but it's not a forgone conclusion he beats Canelo. Canelo is without a doubt an elite fighter and I would give him a chance vs Smith.

Hopefully Smith smashes PED Canelo and exposes him as a non elite Ginger

I would really enjoy seeing Smith go to town on Alvarez, I think this a fight I would definitely favour him in, his height and reach advantage would be too much, but if it went to the cards I can only see it going one way, unless he puts Alvarez down on a few occasions.

Think this could be the one where Canelo makes a huge, huge mistake. I have a feeling Smith has just enough power to KO Canelo. I mean...seriously...Canelo is way too small for Smith. Oscar and Canelo must be thinking 'We beat Liam so we'll beat Callum as well'. Unfortunately, Liam is average at best. A high-guard bum who is easy to hit. Callum is not easy to hit, especially with the MASSIVE height and reach advantage he has over Canelo.

This is a Mikey-Spence situation. One is just too small for the other. The difference of course is that Canelo will at least hold his own in there unlike Mikey and win a few rounds. I'm expecting a KO by Smith, not sure when. Depends how quickly he takes control of the fight.

Same as Mayweather did. I can understand why they do it but it's not something I like personally.

Callum Smith v Canelo would be a great fight, between two great fighters who are improving. I could see Canelo giving anyone including Smith some trouble but Smith would more than trouble Canelo, he would stop him. Even when Canelo managed to get past Smith's long reach, i believe he would lose most up close exchanges as Smith is even better up close than he is fighting at range and would overpower Canelo in clinches. What a fight though, I pray it happens.

Obviously Smith has a massive size advantage. But Ginger nuts has a general skills and experience advantage. Also Smith has been inactive for getting on 9 months while Ginger is consistently active. Also Ginger is a very good body puncher so would probably target Smith there where high difference matters less.

At 168 i give Smith a slight advantage but not much - lots of things in Ginger's favour.

I don't think Smith's the second coming just yet. I'm not overly impressed with his resume and would stil favour Canelo at this point in time.

Canelo said in mexcian media a hydration clause would have to be enforced as he isn't a 168 pounder -IF he fights at 168, but first wants to clear out 160.

The bodyshots from Canelo would be vicious. Smith would do well to survive them. I rate Smith highly and I think if he could survive the bodyshots, he could win a points decision. Problem is the judges would likely rob him.

I like the fight though. Would love to see it made. Is Smith open to travelling to America? Personally can't see Canelo go to the UK.

I think ultimately it comes down to money. Smith would travel for a mega fight and mega payday but also I think this fight is bigger in the UK. With Wembley involved and the likely PPV buys this would make plus some money from DAZN for picking up the rights. I think Wembley is really plausible for this or hopefully Anfield.

I hear ya. No reason the fight can't sell out wembley + do up to a million PPV buys in UK. Sky are excellent at generating hype; give them the biggest star in world boxing against one of the best UK fighters and surely they generate the big numbers.

Nonetheless, I just can't see Canelo travelling to UK. It's way outside his comfort zone and UK scorecards are almost as bent as Canelo's. I hope I'm wrong. This fight would be one of the biggest and best the UK has ever seen. Two guys at the top of their game.

Sorry I forgot to add that it’s actually Canelo’s team who stated they wanted it in the UK.
