I don't know about anyone else but I get a Jeff Lacy vibe from James Kirkland. He just seems to be that clubing guy that is knocking people out but will be vulnareble to a skilled boxer.

I know he is still a prospect but that is what I'm getting. I may be wrong but that's just the vibe I get from him.

Vera was able to nail him with right hands, even while James was giving him a beating. Someone with defense and the ability to move around and get angles will trouble Kirkland deeply. James is still a prospect so hopefully his management will match so he learns to deal with someone with more skill than Vera.

He is no longer with Gary Shae right? Than that is good because I think they tend to rush their fighters a little.

Yes, he most definitely is a prime candidate to get KTFO, but goddam if he isn't one of the more exciting fights out there right now.

Needs to learn some boxing (hitting and not getting hit) for that he'll need a new trainer. He'll get found out at world level.

basically it is strong guys who can be outboxed...chad dawson is nowhere near lacy nor is clottey but the rest are comparable...cloud is a lacy for sure...it is def not an insult...i am sure cloud would love to have lacy accomlishments before the calzghe disaster

Absolutely. Hit the nail straight on the head. It doesn't mean I won't watch him and root for him though.

That's bull****...if you ever even set foot in her gym you would know. You can't brawl successfully without having a measure attack.

Kirkland is fine...he has a lot of work to do defensively but between Wolfe and Pops...the knowledge is there to James to learn... He just has to hone his skills. It's going to take a year of hard work...

Nope. That counter uppercut to the stomach was masterful. He side stepped Vera's punch then came back with a wicked uppercut to the gut. Beautiful.

He's no Lacy. The boy gots skills. He needs to pressure more intelligently as he did in points during the fight. When he tries too hard to knock out his opponent, thats when he gets in trouble.
