Canelo is training on southpaw style. He can beat Plant as a southpaw and shock the world. This content is protected
He could, but there's no reason to. Even in that clip you can see he's making the same mistakes as amateurs when they're playing around with other stances. An overreliance on his lead hand, and not much of a backhand because his weight distribution is off. It's not like he should be dying to fix this, he's absolutely nailed it in the way he should be fighting. It's just a pointless exercise. There's nothing to be gained for Canelo from changing to southpaw, and why would you handicap yourself by abandoning all of the muscle memory you've built up over the years. Very few fighters actually implement stance switching successfully, and I hate the new 'fad', but it looks like it's here to stay.
I honestly dont think that you can learn to switch stance at this age. He better does not do anything stupid that he can regret.
Right on the money, also he won't be able to throw a proper right hook or a stiff jab for a very long time unless he's putting hours in it and it seems pointless at the end of the day, defense suffers the most while changing stances and from this video Cinnamon doesn't seem to have taken too well to the change in weight distribution.
That's what's exasperating about Daniel Jacobs, he turns Southpaw at the most inopportune moments just for the novelty by the looks of it . He voluntarily throttled any chance he had of winning the fight with Canelo by switching pointlessly and not establishing anything .
