I do know that a fortnight before his rematch with George Groves, Carl Froch hired Tony Bellew to do a 10 round session with no headgear and 10oz gloves to make sure he was absolutely fight ready. I would love to have seen that.

Sparring partners are often given instructions as to what to do so it may not be reflective of what could happen in a real fight but likewise, that'd be a great session to watch. At a catchweight of say 172, I think Froch would overcome Bellews height because Bellew would be totally drained. Anything above 175 Bellew catches Froch with too many hooks and takes him out down the stretch.

Froch would’ve beat him up at LHW. Bellew was a corpse down there.

James Stabler was the guy everyone was saying beat up all the heavyweights in sparring, was on this forum about 5 years ago.

Didnt Naz aparantly spar a heavyweight before Barrera and got pulled out? Always wondered about that one

Eubank jnr openly talks about bad beatings he used to take when sparring cruiserweights and heavyweights over in America when he was first starting out. Toughened him up he says, which I wouldn't argue with. Wether you like him or not you can't deny his heart and toughness.

Naz was sparring Mexican jorneymen his own size in preparation for Barrera, it's all in that documentary about the buildup for the MAB fight, remember Naz having fun in Bing Crosby's summer mansion while Barrera was up in Big Bear in the mountains ??
Back when Naz was still with Ingle it wasn't uncommon for him to body spar the likes of Pele Reid and Johnny Nelson, dunno bout regular sparring though.

True but it underlines the mental game of boxing. David Price for instance is a world champ in the gym but for a number of reasons could never take it to real thing.

Okolie apparently "stopped" AJ in a spar, didn't drop him but AJ was basically out on his feet and they stopped the spar.

Isnt' there a video of AJ's coach clarifying this? Fury was messing around in the first round and underestimated AJ, then turned it up a few notches after that and started to takeover. Albeit a competitive spar.
