Never really heard him mentioned around here. Claims to of have no amature background. Was WBC Crusierweight Champion and defeated Carlos De Leon and Yaqui Lopez.

Anyone know any more info on him?

Yeah, he beat Berbick over 10 rounds. Pretty amazing that he claims to have no amature background.

I just recently saw my first complete fight involving him, actually. I had been interested in seeing him in action for some time before that.

Heavily muscled, and could obviously bang. Threw shots with bad intentions.

When he saw that he had hurt De Leon he absolutely tore into him, and a stoppage that probably saw probably over two dozen plus hard punches land that didn't need to, as De Leon was dead on his feet.

Funny you never see that fight mentioned as a late stoppage though.

Also, outpointing Trevor Berbick while weighing 202 pounds in in the second to last fight of your career = very impressive.

Berbick was essentially sleepwalking through this one, and it looked almost like a set-up. Gordon was active, but he clearly didn't have the firepower to distress Trevor, who simply shrugged it off. Regardless, Gordon maintained a good pace over the distance without punching himself out. Still, Berbick did not approach Gordon with the same caution Snipes used with Eddie Mustafa Muhammad. (Eddie clearly hit Renaldo harder to the body than S.T. hit Trevor with his arsenal.) Beyond the halfway mark, it was clear Gordon would win the decision, but I continued watching in case Berbick finally decided to open up.

Can you give us any information on his background? He claims to have no amature fights, any articles or anything about him and how he got into boxing and what age he was?

Yeah had De Leon crumpled in a corner. brutal stoppage. DeLeon got him in a rematch, winning a decision over Gordon. Also was DQ'd in a fight with an up and coming Gerry Cooney. I believe he fought out of Las Vegas.

The likes of S T Gordon were supposed to be the pioneers of the new Cruiserweight division, but unfortunately the lazy Light Heavy decided to move up, rather than the small Heavy move down.

I do not blame him really, I suspect he got better pay days against Cooney and Berbick than the Deleon fights...
