    sas something or other!

that is just silly, though i rate both highly i have to say calzaghe would have won a convincing UD IMO.

this is not taking anything away from the guy because i grew up watching this mid 90's era of boxing, but imo he did catch guys like Eubank and Benn and the right times, after they had both been in huge wars with guys like Watson and Mcclellan, yes they bth won but hugely draining and damaging to them. As i said before that was no way intended to take anythign away from him because i enjoyed watching collins evertime he was on.

He was a tough bugger. Last I heard from Collin was when he confidently predicted Enzo would knock out Haye last year. Nothing since.

Chris eubank was the youngest of that group benn and collins were the same age there was a lot of talk of flukes and bet your house on me and all that paul mckenna hypnotists crap which totally put eubank off his game he was also about 3/4's through that 12 fights in 12 months contracts with sky. He deffo took steve lightly in their 1st fight but should have finished it in the 10th and there 2nd fight was very close. By the time collins met benn , benn was petrified of getting hit and he was absolutly finished and they both new it. A lot of benns wars and history caught up with him on the night he lost his title against malinga (i was there). For me I always thought steve collins came along at the right time , eubank was strugling to make weight and was knacked after fighting once a month for a year and collins defences after the fights against Cornelius carr???? neville brown, freddy silliere and who held there own and getting knocked down by craig cummings in the 1st round sumed up for me and probs him he was just the less shot of the 3 when they fought. Chris was back on form for a while when he moved up and Calzaghe would of done a much better job on collins than he did on Eubank and i think collins new this too.
Having said all that I take nothing away from steve because he had a good career and he was getting old too very good fighter.

So you are saying he was just lucky to come along at the right time, only beat Eubank cos the Englishman was a shot fighter (despite the fact that Eubank was UNBEATEN when they met), only beat Benn cos Benn was terrified of getting hurt, and you go on about Collins getting knocked down in the 1st rd against Cummings even though he was not hurt in the least and actually went on to stop Cummings?:patsch But you're not taking anything away from him? Just basically pissing all over his best wins, his title defenses (all of which he won), and making a prediction that Calslappy would have beat him handily (not a hope in hell).
Listen, Collins outboxed the boxer Eubank, he took everthing the big punching Benn had to offer - and don't give me this shot fighter shite cos Benn could still punch - and he ended his career with a 15 fight winning streak. Give the man some credit.

I view him as very good. He was a tough guy. Not a huge puncher. I wish we could've seen him against Roy Jones he probably would've lost but he would've gave a fair account for himself IMO.

He BEat Collins...u saw what happened when A class act like Reggie Johnson faced Roy Jones....was a complete masterclass.

won 120-106??? that made Calzaghes win against LAcy tepid.....considering Johnson was a genuine world class 2 weight Champion

Benn was shot by the time Collins got to him...u would only have to see Benns performance vs Sugar Boy Malinga to know that....
