before i say anymore i'd like to say well done steven smith for a hard earned victory over john simpson. if i am honest i scored it one round to john, but when you got the nod i couldn't argue against it. but if i honest i'd like to think before you step up against lindsey that you give a valiant champ in simpson a chance to prove it wasn't a fluke and you deserve to be the champ. respect smith.

I had Simpson winning the fight by a round or 2, but Smith showed a lot of character last night. I'm just very disappointed in the 116-112 scorecard, neither fighter took 8 rounds in that fight.

I think Stephen should get in a defence before the end of the year and Simpson should take on Lindsay (he has earned the shot) and then Simpson-Smith can get it on in the new year.

It was a tough fight and it will not be up to Stephen who he fights next!! I will say this though, If he's offered Simpson he will take it just like he'll jump at the Lindsay fight!!

    Well done smithy!!!

Big step up in class, away from home in a hostile atmosphere and he done well. I had him up by a round bout I wouldn't argue if Simpson got the nod as it was a hard one to call.

He'll move on to bigger and better things now.

Yep well done to Smith man .I would like to see a rematch man that would be good
. I think Simpson beats Smith in his own backyard and no offence to Swifty or his fans but I think Simpson'd probably need a knockout man to get the win

certainly was a tough fight and he deserves some credit for hanging tough in there but if he comes in looking to hold after firing a couple punches straight up the middle the way he did last night against martin lindsay there is a high possibility of being countered and knocked out imo

he should take 2/3 more before attempting that challenge. fair enough to him though , hes game and he would take the lindsay fight if it was offered

Yep interesting to see where he goes from here man .I give him props man and even more props if he fights Lindsay .Just one thing I want to point out man Appelby done the same man and some people think got threw into the lions den to soon .He was probably the best prospect in the UK but since the Lindsay fight man he's hardly been active .1 8rdr in 1 in a half yrs .He got some paycheck for it tho man I remember .Must be still lliving it up man
.I'm just a we bit p---d off for Simpson man but I should be happier man for a new champion .Wel done man.

The paycheck for Appleby was a myth mate, it was no more than the average Brit title fight pays. A rumour likely started by Gilmour to divert the heat he was getting for making the local champ go to the challengers backyard

Dave Coldwell came on and clarified that it was not a myth and Appleby got a massive purse
