I would argue it would be worth it
Stevenson is easier to time than Kovalev. He has better hand speed than either Kovalev or Hopkins, but he basically has one weapon at 175: his left cross. He throws it to both the head and body with aplomb, but I can imagine that Hopkins could time it a la Pavlik without too much trouble assuming Hopkins isn’t too mentally effected by what happened.
While I wouldn’t necessarily advise going up against someone who flattened Chad Dawson with a single punch, my guess is Hopkins could pull it off. It would be sweet actually, Hopkins defeats Adonis, relinquishes the title, and then Kovalev can maybe find some opponent for the vacant lineal title, perhaps even Beterbiev.
Although perhaps I am getting way too ahead of myself here.

Stevenson is more predictable which plays into B-Hops hands, if he does manage to take away the straight left what does Adonis really have?

Nothing, the straight left is all he's got.

Hopkins won't beat Adonis now. His speed and power are completely gone, and he will be cautios because of Stevenson's power. Stevenson wins 117-111.

He might beat stevenson if a guy like fonfara with his shaky chin, upright stance and lack of defence and use of height. can give stevenson some trouble. i think a defensive legend like bhop can cause stevenson problems, and remember stevenson packs glass.

  6. I hope Hopkins calls it a day. I agree that he could cause problems to Stevenson, but I don’t see what he really has to gain from taking that fight. I would like him to be able to walk away from the sport, senses still intact, and be able to say that no-one ever stopped him.

It wasn’t nice to watch the last 30 seconds of last night’s fight, but surviving that storm may be the way to call time on his career. It gives a nice duality to it all, he came into the sport with a loss in Atlantic City, and went out the same.

He can beat him if Stevenson blows his wad and gasses out before the 10th. I suspect it would look like a more competitive version of Kovalev/Hopkins, though.

hopkins beats stevenson by ud maybe late round tko due to stevenson's horrible stamina and shaky chin.stevenson has only one weapon hopkins can take that away and he has a great chin so he can take some of stevenson's shots if he has to.

It all depends on whether Hopkins is afraid to fight, like he was with Kovalev. I think Hopkins can beat Stevenson, but only if he picks up the pace. He was way too hesitant against Kovalev. If he did the same thing with Stevenson you would get the same results. If he exchanges with Stevenson I think he can catch him. I don't think Stevenson is as good as Kovalev.

Hopkins should move down in weight.

Stevenson has no where near the skills that Kovalev posses. I think Hopkins could pull it off.

Stevenson needs to man up and face Kovalev..... No point in making this fight right now.

Hopkins vs Stevenson would very probably produce a close decision and a 50 year old winner.

But Stevenson should man the F up and fight Kovalev.
