    Question for you guys:

It seems like Manny Steward, in all his greatness, has ignored the stamina issues that many of his fighters face. I think of his fights with Taylor, and Wlad's recent fights. It seems like Manny has spread himself too thin, and has not carefully watched over his fighters' roadwork.

Under Manny Steward, Taylor was a 6 round fighter. On Saturday, he was jabbing and moving for 12 full rounds, now that Nelson has monitored his roadwork. I just was thinking about these 'celebrity' trainers who do a lot of mittwork, but don't monitor roadwork.

    Thoughts?

Good point, P4PGOAT. Manny's not really developing fighters anymore, except for Andy Lee and maybe a couple of others. He's into taking establishing fighters and trying to refine them, which is something he's been doing for awhile. In some cases that works but in others, it's a failure.

Manny's rep must be good in the boxing world because he keeps getting fighters to work with him, but no trainer is good for every fighter. That celebrity trainer thing certainly leads to less of a bond between fighter and trainer; see the aftermath of the Cintron/Margo II fight, for example.

Emanuel Steward has always been the definition of a one trick pony.

Give him a lanky streak of **** with an excellent jab and he'll teach him how to use his height, clinch inside, and provide you with a working alternative to Rohypnol.

Otherwise, there are a lot better places a young prospect can go.
