How would the HW ATG list of street fighters look?

It's pure speculation and based on anecdotal info, but here is a shortlist:

    1. Liston
    2. Dempsey
    3. Marciano
    4. Ezzard Charles

Charles was known as a natural born fist fighter by people who knew him as a teenager. He took on all comers - I've read that a couple of different places.

Actually, I wouldn't mind having any of those guys on my side in a fight.
Patterson might not be much help. If a gloved fist could keep him on the canvas imagine what a bare fist would do to him.

Floyd was a lovely person, that seldom translates into a successful street fighter imo.He had the physical qualifications but not the prequisite mental inclination.imo

Street fighting is about being first and being committed, get in, land first , land hard, and keep landing until he folds.

A real gentleman, I saw him at Wembley and he realised I had recognized him.He seemed to visibly brace himself for the inevitable , but I couldn't bring myself to invade his space ,though I would have loved to have had a conversation with him ,however brief. He graced our sport imo.

I agree. I wasn't a fan of his in the ring, but he was a true gentleman and an humble man. He was a credit to the sport.

hey say Marciano was an undefeated street fighter beating the street fighting champs of the Irish and Black gangs in and around Brockton I could see where he could be a good street fighter.

Jerry Quarry looked like he could rumble outside the ring

Big George was mean enough when he was young

Jack Dempsey was a coal miner and gold mine fighter and fought some tough hardened street toughs

Ron Lyle, Sonny Liston did some jail time so they were capable.

Mike Tyson busted up Mitch green on the street and was known as a street tough

Curtis Sheppard. Don't know how much of that is true, but if some is, you might need more than a shot to the head to put the guy out. Don't even know if he still alive.
