Tickets for the June 26 co-promoted "Strikeforce and M-1 Global: Fedor vs. Werdum" event go on sale this week.

The event, which takes place at the HP Pavilion in San Jose, Calif., marks the second time the two promotions have worked together following this past November's "Fedor vs. Rogers" event in Chicago.

Tickets, which range from just $35 for the upper level to $600 for cageside seats, go on sale to Strikeforce e-newsletter subscribers Monday, May 10 (1 p.m. ET/10 a.m. PT) and to the general public on Friday, May 14 (1 p.m. ET).

Monday's pre-sale tickets are available utilizing the password, "STKMMA," which was mailed to Strikeforce e-newsletter subscribers earlier this week.

Tickets can be purchased at Ticketmaster.com or by phone at (800) 745-3000.

"Strikeforce and M-1 Global: Fedor vs. Werdum" features a main event between top Russian heavyweight Fedor Emelianenko (31-1 MMA, 1-0 SF) and Brazilian grappling expert Fabricio Werdum (13-4-1 MMA, 2-0 SF).

"The Last Emperor" brings an incredible 27-fight winning streak into the matchup in a run that includes a second-round TKO victory over Brett Rogers in their November meeting. Emelianenko is widely regarded as the best heavyweight in mixed martial arts history, though his reputation as the world's current top pound-for-pound fighter has taken a hit in recent years due a lack of activity.

Nevertheless, Emelianenko has earned stoppages in his past eight fights. That stretch includes first-round finishes of former UFC champions Andrei Arlovski and Tim Sylvia.

Meanwhile, Werdum enters the matchup on the strength of two-straight victories under the Strikeforce banner. The four-time UFC veteran was released from the world's largest promotion following an October 2008 loss to Junior dos Santos. "Vai Cavalo" has bounced back with Strikeforce wins over Antonio Silva and Mike Kyle.

The winner of the Emelianenko-Werdum matchup would likely emerge as the top contender for the May 15 contest between current Strikeforce heavyweight champion Alistair Overeem and Rogers.

The event is also likely to feature a rematch between middleweight sluggers Scott Smith and Cung Le, and as MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com) first reported, Strikeforce female champion Cristiane "Cyborg" Santos is also slated to appear at the event.

Ho-Hum... Would have preferred Fedor Overeem instead of Rogers Overeem..

If they're smart, they'll match the winners of the fights.

TBH, that's just about the only fight they can do.

The Cung Le vs Scott Smith rematch is going to be on this card as well.

Oh goodie. Fedor fighting another semi-random Heavyweight. Can't wait for that one!

Way to go M-1! Really keeping him active and fighting the best out there!

Random? Werdum is a stud. He has some serious grappling credentials.

I said semi-random. You really think I'm not familiar with Werdum? Really?

No one wants to see him fight Werdum. We're settling for this fight. And not by choice.

What choice do you have? You work for Strikeforce or M1? Overeem is already fighting Rogers because Fedor wasnt available at the time. Of course id rather see him face Overeem for the title but its not like Strikeforce has some heavyweight glamour division. The pickings are relatively slim and theres hardly much "choice".

    Overeem vs Fedor
    Rogers vs Werdum

    Probably better match ups.

    Wedum's a quality fighter.

For anyone who's complaining...keep in mind that werdum already defeated Overeem anyway...in pride fc ( 2006 ) ...he submitted him (via kimura)

So to be honest ...Whether we're getting Werdum or Overeem vs Fedor...Both are equally interesting match ups.

Yes, equally interesting. With interest level being a 6 relative to other fights he could and should be having.

None. I'd like to work for Strikeforce, and I'd kill myself before working for M-1.

And they're not fighting for a multitude of reasons. And it's not because Overeem is already fighting Rogers. That just happened relatively recently. But, Overeem has been overseas fighting K-1 and other random crap, and Fedor has been busy with M-1 trying to **** over Strikeforce some more...go figure.

I agree in part. Werdum is a great ground fighter but I think Fedor will Sylvia him. Unless Fedor decides to play Werdum's game. He did it in the first Nog fight. What sub does Werdum like to go for the most? Because I just don't think Fedor can get caught in an arm bar.

Well, he can. He was almost armbarred in the Mark Hunt fight. I think Fedor will defeat Werdum, but as great as he is, he's getting older and slower at 34 (and he heavily relies on speed because of his size). Should he fight Overeem later this year or next year my money will be on Overeem... still he is without any doubt the greatest fighter in MMA ever.
