That and you dont have 300 commercials during the Strikeforce card. Its fight maybe an interview with the main event fighter, fight, 30 secounds of showing whos in the crowd, fight, interview other main eventer, fight, announcers talk for 2 minutes of the main event then its main event. I watch MMA to see fighting not a **** load of advertisements and talk.

You should have tried watching the UFC Finale over here on Sky Sports 3! There were adverts every 5 minutes! Even more before the fights... at one point i nearly went to bed it ****ed me off so much...

That would have made for a great CBS card. They really missed out on that one.

Hendo/Feijao would make for a pretty good CBS main event if they can't get Diaz/Mayhem or Fedor involved.

    Daley/Cyborg the same.

Same here, I never watch UFN card lvie these days either. It pisses me off that ESPN are putiing ads in between the fights now aswell. Last event I missed the crowd shot of Antoine Dobson, was not impressed.

It depends what SF are planning I'd say, if they want to move onto PPV then a CBS show hyping the fighters on that PPV seems like a good route to take.

I don't know who the main guy is on Strikeforce: The guy with glasses. But his voice sounds over the top like a parody of a 'sportscaster' I keep waiting for the punchline. Can't take him seriously at all. He sounds like something from 'Anchorman'

I totally agree with this. Didn't he make some comment about Hendo's right hand, called it "the H-bomb!!" and the other guy was like "otherwise knows as an overhand right"
I find Joe and Goldberg 23x more annoying though.

There is no man on the planet that comes near Goldberg in terms of stupidity. It's like watching a fight with my Missus commentating. Sometimes I swear he must get **** wrong on purpose.

I think one reason Strikeforce seems better produced is Jimmy Lennon jnr. I know the ring announcer is a small aspect of a promotion but I associate that voice with big, major, historic, worldwide fights and it seems to add some kind of gravitas. Plus there seems to be a more gung ho mindset amongst the SF fighters for whatever reason, bit of a throwback in attitude to the early days, not paralysed by the fear of a loss, the willingness to take a risk was what led to some big mother****in' kayos.

Sky Sports was just putting in the commercials that Spike have in America. I'm sure if left to them they'd have had less (did you notice how many were just adverts for Sky products?).

As for ESPN numbered card coverage, I'd happily take adverts over paying for pay per views like our American cousins do. And ESPN is being more reasonable than Sky who for boxing frequently cut to commercial in the middle of matches.

As for America, its ridiculous to compare the amount of advertising on the two shows as one was on basic cable and the other was a premimum subscription station. And in any case, Strikeforce sure were laying it on thick with the showtime plugs.

I think that you are seriously underestimating the power of network television.

The problem is that network television is also going to expect alot of high profile matchs in order to bring in audiences which is obviously going to cost more than the kind of card that will draw on a prenimum network like Showtime.

I don't think CBS is ever likely to be espeically profitable for SF but could provide some increased exposure.

As far as the standard of their shows compaired to the UFC goes I'd say Zuffa still come up with more quality matches but they tend to be spread over multiple more costly(to the veiwer) shows.

The problem is I'd say that the UFC's brand is obviously far stronger and there more than happy to maxmise profit by selling shows on it rather than the quality of action on offer. They obviously have the strongest roster in the sport but when it comes to fighters who are willing to go for the finish in entertaining matches its noteble how many of them are fighting elsewhere.

Such fighters are always going to demand more money due to the quality of matchs they put on but its orgs like SF and Bellator that are often more willing to pay. The really big names like Shogun often get signed up as they can be put straight into big fights but why pay twice as much for Alvarez when you can have Maynard and use the brand to hype him?

I didnt watch it on Sky so I wouldn't know. But I see what you mean, better than paying £15 + for PPV but sometimes it's the timing of the ads that annoy me, I want to see everything that I paid to see. Minor gripe though, better than the Bravo days of and ad break every 2 rounds
