A question I wondered is if you could pick one, which style would be your favourite to fight in? When I used to box as an amateur I used to fight with a defensive style and I tried to use a lot of lateral movement. If I could pick any style that I wish I could have used I'd have picked a great elusive and defensive style like Willie Pep or Pernell Whitaker.

Defensive style, however good you are at it, can still go against you in a close fight when it goes to the judges.
I think your best bet is a boxer puncher like JMM.

Same as you Manassa, I like defensive boxers. I guess my ideal style would be very Floyd like.

I have always been impressed by someone who can land without getting hit in return. Anybody can punch someone. But not everybody can make a guy miss constantly. I admire that since i was young. Maybe not the most exciting boxer, but you get the job done and get the W. Winning and entertaining the crowd, thats a bonus. :yep

ill choose a style with somone with simular body shape, i couldnt chose tyson because i dont have the build or the power to pull it off. Id like to have pretty boy floyds style or sugar ray leonard. There so sharp, quick, got all the footwork. My favourite styles.

I like the Duran, Arguello, Hagler kind of style. A slick boxing style with subtile aggressiveness and pressure, with a Duran kind of defense, very subtle but extremely effective for the pressure style, head movement, rolling with the punches, etc.. boxing when needed but love fighting on short distance

It depends on your oponent, sometimes you have to change but if I had to choose I would go with what always worked best for me. Fast hands, good in avoiding punches and dance like Ali.
The Ali style in the 60´s was a big influence for me as well as Sugar Ray Leonards. That type of boxing has always worked for me. I was always impressed by Tysons raw power and movement but I never had the power to work that way and also, I never liked to go inside and take the fight, I rather prefer to make them miss and make them pay for it.
But in the end you have to be able to do both, some guys you box, some guys you fight.
    All the best

    Great responses, guys. :good

Many see the defensive style as boring but Boxing is as an art and I enjoy seeing individuals perfect the sweet science. Don't get me wrong I do enjoy a great brawl, who doesn't! But I also enjoy fighters who have been able to perfect there art and when I see punch stats in certain fights with 300-400 lands, and then that fighter will move to his next fight against a defensive fighter and that total will be cut into a third of what it was, then you have to say that is something great.

i personally liked the way arguello fought ,because he made it look easy ,though obviously it wasn't and he had the straightest of straight right hands
