Mollo has/had more talent and skill than Szpilka but he has never really been a full time fighter and he hasn't fought in 2 and a half years. I still give him a decent chance to KO the Pole due to the fact that Szpilka is absolute rubbish.
Mollo looks like a ****in midget with midget arms. He'll be lucky if he's alive when its all over. :yep
Mollo was schooled by an ancient Golota and a retired McCline. When McCline jabbed him he would hold on for dear life.
Mollo was late for the weigh in & there was no face off & that pissed off Szpilka. From Fightnews... If the weigh-in for heavyweights Artur Szpilka (12-0, 9 KO) and Mike Mollo (20-3, 12 KO) is any indication to what can we expect tonight at UIC Pavilion in Chicago, boxing fans should have something to talk about. The 23-year old Szpilka, along with a few dozen very vocal Polish supporters, was very animated when his rival arrived late and skipped the customary face to face ritual. He will pay for that. I will knock him out cold, said Szpilka before leaving the place, just couple of minutes after Mollo arrived. It looked like Szpilka wanted to have some choice words with the ****IN MIDGET!
Mollo is/was visibly shaken at the weigh in. Mollo was yelling and and acting hard to conceal his fear. Also was funny while talking to a reporter he kept looking around to make sure Szpilka was not close by.
Ancient Golota is still better than Szpilka, and Mollo fought McCline in '08, when he was still fairly active. Szpilka fought an even more shot and retired McCline in '12, and won by scintillating UD.
I've got ESPN3.com running right now...watching some womens tennis. Getting ready for Szplika later! :!: But it say that fight will be on at 11pm EST. I guess it won't be shown live, but after the event is over on ESPN2 TV broadcast. (((((GO ARTUR)))))
Szpilka is overrated. IN his last fight he needed all 10 rounds to beat McCline and had his jaw broken in two places in the process. I hate how the Polish boxing media fawn over him like he's the second coming. Would love to see a Polish heavy rise to the top, but could it be someone else?
Im not totally sold on Szpilka just yet but dont let that hate blind you. He is a little bit better than you are giving him credit for.
Gotta' hand it to Szpilka, he def wants to fight good opponents. He's now saying he also wants to face Wilder later this year, and he's also called out Mago. I just don't think he has the skills to make it to the top, but he sure does look tough, powerful & aggressive. It could be a fun ride while it lasts ....
Fat Dan says Szpilka-Mollo won't be on TV but it'll be on ESPN3 at 11 EST. Artur is an 18 to 1 favorite. Seems pretty wide.
Even though you usually give your best effort to not come across as racist, it sometimes just bursts out of you uncontrollably, doesn't it? Also, people in here reading way too much into anything of this charade. A pre-fight brawl, eh? Hell, why not? It's boxing and it creates publicity, so get over it. Mollo hiding from Szpilka? I have no idea what good that would do, he's probably gonna end up on the canvas anyway.
