Former five time world champ Johnny Tapia is back in jail for failing a urine test. KOB TV in Albuquerque, N.M. broke the story this morning, reporting that Tapia returned to jail yesterday after his urine tested positive for cocaine. The urine test was part of his conditions for an early release in January into a community custody program rather than fulfill the length of a sentence for a probation violation.

99% positive he smacked around his wife years back then went to rehab. He's a ****ing loser. Shame, his wife is hot too. They been together since they were young. I mean she kept his career going and everything.

Shame about Johnny, he just can't let that **** go. Everyone shitting on him for hitting his wife, whatever.... it helps to understand where he comes from and what he's been through. If you're only a wifebeater in that environment you're one of the good guys lol

Not excusing it, it's a bad thing, but life isn't all black and white like that. Tapia has a backstory that people need to know before judging him.

He went from a street running gangster who watched his own mother murdered to an Olympic fighter and then a world champion, and a born-again holy roller. I'd say he changed his life. He just can't get away from his demons. There but for the grace of god go I.

He's not a bad man, he's a drug addict, and deeply troubled. Considering what he's given to the sport, personally I think he deserves a little more support, but whatever.

Dude was a showman on top of the ring.

    Great fire, fun to watch.

I always loved his "ernie from sesame street" laugh, after a late flurry just when a round ends.
