Just 're watched the fight for the first time since 88 , WOW I forgotten now incredible Nunn looked !!
Tate was a very good fighter and was completely outclassed. No wonder Nunn was seen as the next great fighter . Didn't quite work out that way .

Another thing is that Nunn was an underdog in this fight.

Unexpectedly derailed by James Toney in a fight that he seemed to be winning handily. Pity there was never a rematch.

Nunn seemed to go downhill a few fights before the Toney loss, I think.
He looked awesome against Tate, Roldan and Kalambay, then dropped off with the fights with Barkley, Starling and Curry.

Nunn was bitter towards Tate for beating him 2-1 in the amateurs, I'll pay for an HD version of that fight.

I don’t know about going downhill but maybe he just looked like he couldn’t get himself really motivated against Curry who by then was clearly a shadow of the fighter he was and Starling who was by and large a career Welterweight?

Nunn was on the slide prior to Toney, but was still an unbelievable fighter.

This version was an absolute menace.

You should have seen how hard he was to hit about 2 years prior to this - he changed his style in an effort to attract more fans.
This was his greatest performance as a pro.
    Totally dominated Tate.
And Kevin Watts who always gave everyone a hard time Nunn boxed his ears off easily.
People now don't realize how great Nunn was when he was on.
Even the Barkley fight he wasn't really on and still won.
