I agree, although his prime was short lived Curry had a few years there where he was amazing. Taylor has never gotten close to that IMHO.

Curry was better, but they were both superior talents. Taylor is still a very good fighter, he just needs to work on intangibles. He needs a smart trainer who can hide his weaknesses.

Perhaps Taylor was drugged or had too much vaseline on him. :think

This is an insult to Donald Curry. Taylor never had a fraction of the talent that Curry had.

But Curry was never good enough to twice beat a living legend like Hopkins.

Agreed. Curry is one of the most consistently overrated fighters in history IMO.

Agreed there too. Judah has never beat anyone as good as Hopkins, or even fought on level terms with someone as good as Winky IMO. Taylor is a legitimate good fighter who falls short of true greatness, whereas Judah verges on being utter crap at times (ie: quitting like a ***** to Baldomir, nearly losing to Pineda).

This is a close call. Curry definitely had tons more skills, but Curry lost to every elite fighter he faced.

    What's your definition of "elite"?

Curry doesn't have any wins on his ledger against an ATG like Hopkins, but he beat some of the top welterweights around at the time, and usually did it in convincing fashion (I thought Starling narrowly won the first bout).

I'm talking about elite fighters in the game, and in his division. McCallum, Nunn, Norris, Honeyghan, and we remember the televised fight with the frenchman where we all found out curry truly lost it. I thought Curry won both fights with Starling.

If Honeyghan is considered an elite fighter, then what about Starling? Starling beat Honeyghan like a drum. Starling was a better fighter overall than Honeyghan IMO.

Curry has two wins over Starling.

Curry was basically damaged goods by the Norris fight. I liked Norris but he sure did feast quite a bit on aged fighters who peaked at lower weights.

Curry's run at WW in the mid 80s was pretty nice. He beat a decent number of contenders.
