Simple question really: Earnie Terrell vs Jerry Quarry, fifteen rounds, prime for prime.

Quarry takes the early rounds, Terrell comes on later in the fight. Quarry wins a close decision.

I would expect Terrell to win a decision.
Probably wouldn't be an exciting fight.

Tough one to call. I lean towards your scenario.

Terrell should win this one easily on points. Would be a real snoozefest I expect.

Never thought of this one but the big octopus would/could have probably copped a UD in this one.
Jerry's not going to knock Terrell out; and Ernie's not going to knock Jerry out.
I love Jerry and I hate Ernie but unless Quarry slips and counters early on and establishes his game, the big turd probably jabs and holds his way to victory.

Terrell grabs, jabs and grabs some more for a dull decision win.

Ernie wasnt called the Octopus for nothing, he knew how to smother and negate in close, slow the pace, and dictate from range with the Jab, as he does not commit to protracted exchanges, he gives Jerry little to work with, i have no doubt if Ernie looked to trade with Jerry he would come of second best, but Jerry was one for blowing the big one, and Ernie was one for winning ugly, i think Ernie is favoured..and Jerry left Frustrated once again.

This isn't Ali we are talking about and Quarry didn't have enough power to bother the durable Terrell.

Terrell improved after the 7th round KO loss to Cleveland Williams in 1962. Before this loss he was 24-3... the losses were by SD... twice to Johnny Gray and once to Wayne Bethea. After the loss to Williams he beat Williams in a rematch, Zora Folley, Bob Foster (KO7), Eddie Machen, George Chuvalo, and Doug Jones before losing to Ali.

Terrell was solid at 6'6" and an 82" reach. He was durable, only stopped once in 2x in 55 pro fights and the 2nd KO loss was his very last fight. His best weight was just under 210 Lbs but he had a big frame and looked much heavier.

It's not tough at all... Terrell wins this. Thad Spencer beat Terrell after Terrell's loss to Ali... post Ali, Terrell went just 7-4 (3) and was stopped once, the wins were not vs. top fighters... unless you consider Jose L. Garcia a top fighter.

Come on, don't do this people!

Terrell beat Folley, Machen, and Jones... Quarry wouldn't have beat any of those guys. Quarry was easily outboxed by Machen. Terrell also beat Chuvalo who stopped Quarry. Terrell went 15 rounds with an angry Ali and actually won a couple of rounds... Ali stopped Quarry twice with ease!

Terrell definitely spoils, but I wonder if he lands consistently and solid enough to take enough rounds...

Quarry I think lands the harder, cleaner punches.
