OK, I'm a bit thin-skinned when German boxing is described as corrupt. I know there have been terrible decisions but I don't think it's worse than in Britain, for example. Let's hope that there will be no controvercial decision today.

Not to talk of Italy or Denmark Well one thing is for sure - Ottke always knew the score when he fought - hell even German television sometimes filmed over the shulder of the judges...
i watched all ottke`s 21 title fights and IMO nothing wrong with the gloves in the mundine fight gatti was useless and just made excuses for his defeat throwing out the loaded gloves comment. faetter is right with the ottke new the scoring remark. there was an overhead casino type camera with zoom lens whcih focused in on the scorecards plain as day.
Regarding the scoring at the time... Mundine was behind by 1 on 2 cards and 2 or 3 on the other if memory serves me right. He would have needed a KO to win had he got up from the KO. mundine did get 2 points deducted for headbutting though (which seems a bit steep). It's been said recently (last 3 or so years) in reference to that fight that Mundine was ahead. Barry Michaels and even Kostya have said it in commentary but it's not true.
i even did the round by rounds on esb but i never had to work my fingers to hard. round 1/ ottke lands a jab round 2 ottke lands a jab round 3/ crowd go wild ottke throws a right round 4/ quiet round round 5/ ref warns opponent for hitting ottke
Actually, there such a comment on Boxrec, but I think it's been posted by someone other than a Boxrec editor. I still have the pic i made from that thread somewhere. You do realise Mutt that I will be bringing this "Loaded Gloves" theory up in 5-10 yrs time when there is a younger population posting here who werent quite old enough at the time to know better :yep:yep This Urban Legend wont be a myth then
