We all know that there's only been a handful of world champions to retire unbeaten-
    Jimmy Barry
    Ricardo Lopez
    Rocky Marciano
    Floyd Mayweather Jr
    Joe Calzaghe
    Sven Ottke
    Harry Simon
    Mihai Leu
    Edwin Valero
    Terry Marsh
    Pichit Sithbanprachan
    Ji Won Kim

    (I have a feeling I'm missing 1 other, anyone?)

But there's lots with just 1 loss when they retired. Guys like-
    Myung Woo Yuh,
    Yoko Gushiken,
    Khaosai Galaxy,
    Rid**** Bowe,
    Aaron Pryor,
    Henry Maske,
    James J Jeffries,
    Gene Tunney,
    Salvador Sanchez,
    Naseem Hamed,
    Brian Mitchell,
    Yuri Arbachakov,
    Michael Spinks

But who is "The best with 1"?

Toss up between Gene Tunney and Aaron Pryor IMO.
Tunney because he had so many fights and avenged his solitary loss 3 or 4 times if memory serves, and Pryor because he was such a special talent.

Brian Mitchell avenged his only loss in the most emphatic way possible by killing the man he lost to in a return bout.
