If Calzaghe had stayed down for the count after that forearm smash what would have happened afterwards? Of course nobody could tell at the time that it was Jones's forearm that did the damage to knock Joe down so afterwards would the fight have been declared a 'No contest'? Or would it have gone down officially in the record books as a knockout?
I'm sure the Calzaghe camp would have raised a big fuss. Hard to say what would have happened. How much of the gloved portion hit Joe? I can't recall exactly. Was it a legal shot?

good that calzaghe has a granite chin and doesn't need to be drawn into this kind of situation. Forearm smash would of carried more power than his fist surely??? makes it more impressive

It would have been a KO because the referee obviously didn't know it was a forearm at the time, hence the count. There would have surely been an automatic rematch though, as it was an illegal KO and a mistake by the ref.
When they showed a replay using a different camera angle at the end of the fight, you can see the glove connect with Calzaghe's face, then the forearm followed through. But it wasn't all forearm.
Yeah? Why? Imo they have all right and I would understand it. It was a forearm and no glove. I know it was unintentional, but it offcialy is an illegal punch. Just as for example a backfist or punching with the inside of the glove. I think there should be a rematch in that case to settle things straight.
Cause, like it or not, slaps are illegal punches and Calzaghe's career has seen a slap or two. It would be ironic. I would agree about the rematch.
