The Heart punch

    This punch was used to great effect turn of the century going into the 1920's it was a favorite of Dempsey.
    Why did this punch basically disappear?
    I remember there was a great pic of Mancini landing it against Kim in SI.
    Dempsey mentioned the great results he had with it in some of his books.
    Stan the man Stasiak used it as a finishing blow back in the old WWF days. Lol just kidding

    As per Fleischer Dempseys favorite combination and the one he rated as the best in boxing history was a right to the heart followed by a left hook to the jaw.

    I recall reading where Nino Benvenuti nearly killed an opponent with a heart punch...I believe he was at Jr. Middleweight then.

    Rocky Balboa nearly got killed by Ivan Drago with a heart punch.....

    The last one I remember was in the Tyson vs Spinks. The knockdown is a classic example. It is remarkable how Spinks writhes in pain.

    Beautiful punch. It is a natural counter to the jab. Very damaging shot.

    There really were two men who died after matches with him. To keep kayfabe, they built it into the legend that his heart punch was a lethal weapon.
