I ran across this article from Sports Illustrated dating back to 1970, a time that saw an unprecedented rivalry in the bantamweight division. I had read of the antipathy shown by both Olivares and Castillo toward each other in an old boxing magazine I have from that time, but this article expands on that quite a bit. It tells a little of the history of both men, which is nice. We have so little on Castillo as a person that I found it interesting. Anyway, have a read.........SI used to do a very nice job of boxing coverage. http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/vault/article/magazine/MAG1083538/index.htm
Great article. I love this era of bantams. Ruben was obviously the cream of the crop but Castillo, Rose and Rudkin were all great fighters.
Indeed they were. I think my favorite from that era was actually Herrera, but there's so little on youtube.
Hes a very underrated fighter when it comes to this era. He beat Olivares and Castillo which is something not many others can say.
