Bad idea, forgetting all the stoppages, it is terrible for fighter safety.

Anyone seen one of the early UFC fights when some one gets kicked/pushed/thrown through the door? Trying to find the clip on youtube.

I prefer the ring over the Octagon. Theres no where to hide in the ring.

Nowhere to hide except, you know, outside the ring:

The cage is the ideal battlegrounds for MMA (when the doors locked that is) but if promotions want to use a ring they should at least go the IFL route and spring for the extra canvas outside the ropes for the fighter's safety.

boxing ring has corners to trap your opponent beneficial for strikers, cage does not.

of course for ground fighters it is the opposite

grapplers will prefer a cage, GNP'rs will too.

    pressing opponents against the cage.

I think if mma wants to be like a street fight..make it in a street.....with some curbs....maybe a dumpster you can slam a guy into......
