I have come to the conclusion that they both ruined this fight. Both Pac and Floyd made unprecedented requests - Pac wanted 10 mil per pound; Floyd wanted olympic style testing

OK - it's possibly the biggest fight in history, so lets take extra precautions to make sure BOTH parties don't cheat.

At this stage, Pac handled it poorly, throwing out several lame excuses. Each time when one was debunked, another one was thrown out. At this point I was curious as to what Pac was hiding.

Then the fight goes to mediation. This is where Floyd handled it poorly. Mediation is a negotiation forum where they can each throw out offers until both agree. Pac threw out the offer of 24 days prior and after the fight (with unlimited urine samples). If Floyd didn't like it, he could have thrown out a 5 day cutoff (or any number he wanted), then waited for an acceptance or another counter. No, instead he says, "No, the fight is off." Really? What happened to negotiation? This made me wonder if Floyd even wanted this fight.

Now they're gonna go after Foreman and Hatton for far less money?

Maybe neither of them really wanted this fight.

Who was it that turned down the impartial mediator's offer and refused to offer a counter-proposal instead?

Did you not read the post? It's in there that Floyd blew that. This post does not point blame on one of them. It just points out that both handled it poorly at different stages.

For me it boils down to the guy that actually refused the mediator's conclusion. The mediator isn't a nuthugger, he's a judge whose job is to wade past all of our fandom bull**** and derive at the truth.

He made the proposal and Mayweather refused, and refused to counter it, which shows to me whose at fault. It can't be any clearer than that.

Floyd's to blame completely IMO. Isn't he the one that brought up the whole 'out-of-the-ordinary' random blood testing thing man? Come on now. He NEVER wanted this fight!

Void had no intention at any time of going through with this fight.

    Yep both fault.

    1. Floyd asking for something new (blood test). Not believing Pacquiao can be that good. Scared of losing to Pacquiao.

    2. Pacquiao saying no instead of "whatever you want for me to kick your ass".

Yes, but look at both perspectives. One can say Floyd didn't want it because he wanted blood tests; but the other side of that is Pac didn't want it because he refused. I have simply said maybe neither really wanted it because if one really really wanted it, he could have made it happen. If floyd really wanted it, he would have said **** it - let's do it. If Pac really wanted it, he could have said fine, give me the damn test and let's do this. Neither of them budged.

But he was agreeing to the same testing!

The weight penalty's were out of the ordinary to but Pac was willing to agree to it because he knew HE wasn't in danger of coming in over weight.

The same goes with Floyd and the blood work, he's agreeing to the out of the ordinary stipulation because he knows the blood work wouldn't effect him in the ring and he's not on PED's.

They'd both have to deal with the same issues.

Props to the thread starter, I think you're seeing this quite clearly.

Wrong. Manny did agree to some of the blood testing. But yall just ignore that fact. No fighter has ever been subjected to blood testing ever in boxing and Manny agreed to the demand to some extent, but yall ignore this fact and just to say that he flatly refuses any blood testing which is just not truthful.

I don't think that what Manny asked for regarding weight was unprecedented. Weight is always negotiated in fights and this is not the first time that guys have been fined for coming in overweight. In his last fight Floyd said **** it and paid the fine so Manny made the penalty an amount that will discourage such behaivior again. Sure the dollar amount has never been matched but the concept is nothing new.

What Floyd is asking for on the other hand is completly unprecedented. Never in the history of boxing have drug tests been part of negotiations.

But Pacquiao made consessions. He agreed to take 3 blood tests and unlimited urine tests. He wanted this fight to happen and Floyd, in the end, did not so much... Pac could of just ageed sure, but for what? I think he was generally pissed off that Floyd had made these accusations and could possible make him do something he wasn't comfortable doing. And why should he? Noone has EVER had to do this. Manny was and has always been fine taking the standard tests used in boxing. That's all that should have been asked of him, period. He DID eventually come around and agree to the 3 blood tests and that should have been good enough, considering the man has never failed one and shouldn't even have to go thru this mess just because a fighter decides he wants to make sure the opponent he is facing isn't using... the whole thing is rediculous. Floyd found his out and used it beautifully. The fact that people are blaming anyone other than himself is proof of this.
