LHL has already done a thread on the great fights this Friday (http://www.eastsideboxing.com/forum/showthread.php?t=213436)

I thought I'd do one on Saturday's stuff.

    Marcos Maidana v Victor Cayo
, 12 rounds. This is a great fight for the hardcore fans. Maidana is an aggressive power puncher whereas Cayo is an unorthodox, hands down boxer who can also bang. This has the makings of a great fight. I think Cayo could pull the upset here :think.

Ali Funeka v Joan Guzman II
, 12 rounds. This is a rematch of their highly controversial draw earlier this year. Funeka clearly dominated the first fight with his jab. Guzman did have some early success but Ali took over later in the fight. Of course, this time round Guzman is being trained by Lee Beard and has enlisted the help of Kerry Kayes to get him into shape. I think we might have a slightly closer fight this time round but Funeka should get the decision that he deserved the first time round.

    Arthur Abraham v Andre Dirrell
, 12 rounds. Dirrell will be hoping his speed will be the key here against the sometimes passive Abraham. However, I expect King Arthur to catch up with him sometime in the later rounds and put Dirrell to sleep.

Yuriorkis Gamboa v Jonathan Victor Barros
, 12 rounds. I know nothing about Barros :)lol:) but he brings an undefeated record and Gamboa fights are always entertaining. And as this is in Germany we'll be able to watch this at a decent hour.

    Anselmo Moreno v Nehomar Cermeno
, 12 rounds. Cermeno emerged from nowhere last year and beat Cristian Mijares twice whilst Moreno has been one of the most underrated title holders of recent years. He beat Sidorenko twice in Germany and last year travelled to France edge the comebacking Monshipour. Moreno is the away fighter again as he travels to Cermeno's homeland of Venezuela. I expect this to be a highly tactical chess match which will almost certainly go the distance. I think Moreno's extra experience at world level will see him squeak home on points.

    Koki Kameda v Pongsaklek Wonjongkam
, 12 rounds, vacant RING Flyweight Title. Pong is still campaigning at world level and Kameda has cult-like status on these boards . I've seen one of Pong's recent fights (against Miranda) and he boxed really well and widely outpointed a world ranked fighter. However, Kameda is the younger, faster, up and comer who is fighting at home. Expect him to win on points.

    Erik Morales v Jose Alfaro
, 12 rounds. El Terrible is back!!!::scaredas::-( Alfaro is a lightweight and Morales was at his best below super featherweight. However, this fight takes place at welterweight. I have no idea what will happen but it should be fun!

Chris Henry v Hugo Hernan Garay
, 12 rounds. Good "trade" fight on the Morales undercard. I've only see snippets of both fighters. Garay is technically sound but can be a bit of plodder. Whilst Henry is fast, he lost to a plodder in Adrian Diaconu so no idea whtr will happen here and therefore I won't be making a pick :bart. The winner will be in place for a title though. Maybe either fighter could also be a future opponent for a certain Welsh mathematician? :hey

Also: Giovanni Segura v Walter Ramos, Ulises Solis v Bert Batawang, Jorge Linares v Francisco Lorezo, David Tua v Friday Ahunaya, Steve Molitor v Takalani Ndlouvo II.

    :bbb:bbb:bbb

Segura is old school. He's been after Calderon as well.

Morales is mental, last week there was a press release in which he stated he wants a 4th Pac fight :nut

I liek Segura, he has a weird ass style though. Big puncher with fairly decent skills I wis him well.

Morales was fat as hell at Roman Gonzales last fight, do you know what shape he is in now?

Nope but there should be some weigh in pics on Friday night so we'll get a better idea then. Unfortunately, Gonzalez is no longer on the Morales card :-(

Gonzalez needs a boot up the arse. Sort his game out. The guy is one of the best boxer-punchers in the sport today and is absoloute class.

Henry looks lost when someone can take his punches or avoids them. I'm thinking a few upsets are on the cards this week. Seen a video of Barros i think he is in for a beating not a good defence and pretty slow plus Gamboa is a beast.

Yeah, I'm working Sunday morning so I'll have to DL the lot (think I'll give Morales a miss though).
