Thompson would once again be the IBF Mandatory if he survives and beats Pulev.
That would mean a third fight with Wladimir, if Wlad doesn't get upset by Povetkin of course.
Let's face it. Who'd want to see TT get outclassed again? No one. He'd have earned it but no one'd want to see it. Hell I didn't even want to see the second fight.

I'm hoping Pulev really impresses in a way that'd create excitement for Pulev-Klitschko.

I mean does Thompson even want this again? I'd guess yes because it's the best money he'll get, but at some point Thompson should just go ahead and pass on this.

I think he can have another 2-4 fights as a European gatekeeper type deal, though in all honestly he is a really good fighter, just not against guys vs. Klitschko.

Yes. Great for TT beating the cr@p out of the brit Price but please give us Pulev in a decisive and striking victory. Wlad-TT III is just not appropriate.

Totally. I absolutely have to root for Pulev even though I like Thompson. Because there's no way Wlad ever vacates the IBF title. He would fight Thompson a third time. He would be the worst thing for the division even if it would also be legit.

Why in the hell would he "pass on this"? He's 41 years old and he must be thinking about cashing out at some point. It's not his fault that Wlad is the only guy that can figure him out.

I agree that it would be awful for the division but Thompson would still have earned the shot(with a win over Pulev).

If TT beats Pulev, there will probably be a 3rd fight. It would be like the Fight Night game, same opponent over again.
But I don't think it will happen because Pulev will probably beat him.

In this case, maybe Thompson could find some arrangement w/ K2 where he gets paid off so they don't have to fight him again. I don't think anyone - not RTL, not the fans nor Thompson - want to see that fight. Thompson will probably happily accept a $1m step-aside paycheck and sail off into the sunset.

Of course the haters would be quick to point out how Wlad is ducking Thompson.

No way do I want to see TT in there a third time. However if he beats Pulev, he certainly deserves the shot I don't think anyone can really dispute that.

It's too bad that Vitali has screwed around so much of this year and gotten injured which has delayed fighting Stiverne. I wish he would get that fight out of the way, and give TT a voluntary shot if he beats Pulev.

All this said, I don't think he's going to beat Pulev.

I'd rather see Wlad vacate or Tony respectfully decline the opportunity were
he to beat Pulev. Tony already said he'd want it again "third times the charm"
I believe were his exact words.

Tony is competitive against everyone not named Klitschko though
