Strongest MW I've ever seen. Powerful clubbing puncher. Overwhelms with that strength and that power. AWKWARD!(like most Argentine fighters). Cons? He can get discouraged, though I think that's overstated. He took quite a beating from both Hagler and Hearns. If he was such a quitter he could have bowed out of those fights a lot sooner.

If not for Marvin and Tommy I think he could have dominated. I'd pick him over Mustafa Hamsho, John Mugabi, Dwight Davison, Herol Graham and all the other MWs who were prowling around at the time.

Roldan was of a similar ilk to Victor Galindez. Physically strong, decent puncher. Good chin. No lateral movement. Mediocre defense. Didn't bleed as much as Galindez. Best wins over a naturally smaller Frank Fletcher and a just past his prime James Kinchen.

The thing with those brawler types is when they start to deteriorate. They sure go downhill quick.

He sure didn't look good against Nunn. And here was Nunn fighting a Roldan fight instead of boxing the guy. But those reflexes just made him punch wider. And with a bigger arc even. Telegraphed more. Didn't use his legs anywhere near as well.

But guys like Roldan even if they make it to the top, don't seem tostay there long. Consistent top 10 competition and matchmaking is a killer to the brawlers & they don't last all that long. Much much better versus the B and C grade guys.

Typical Argie; short, stocky, broad shoulders, hairy chest, dips at the knees, throws from his ankles.

Guy was beast... Had a non stop awkward attack that was very hard to handle gave all time greats Hagler and Hearns very rough fights. I guess you could say his lack of technique is what did him in when he faced the real top fighters but at the same time his awkwardness helped make him effective. A contender and possible champ in any era...

Bringing up what is a well-known fighting style of a nation(and the appearance of many of it's fighters) is hardly "racist". It is a simple statement of fact. Totally accurate.

+ Fast- handed brawler who packed power.
    - Crude in attack and lacked defence.
Dangerous all the time he was in there.

when you say "clubbing" do you mean not snapping or involving the proper bio mechanics necessary to punch correctly? if he was more efficient do you feel his knock out power would have been greater?
