Watched the fight back again for the second time and I think Khan has gone backover. I understand him wanting to improve his defensive game but other this seems to be at the expense of his attacking instincts. He had Diaz stunned at least 4 / 5 times the old Khan would have stepped in and unleashed but he just kept stepping back out the pocket allowing Diaz to recover. I think this Hunter / Khan projects could end up doing Khan more harm than good.

Khan is what, 26 ? He should have plenty more fights against the likes of Diaz before facing a top 10 fighter.

I always thought that young fighters, coming off devestating losses, should take some time off and start from scratch like in the beginng of their careers.
Similar to what they did with Victor Ortiz after Maidana.

Personally I don't really expect to see Khan improve much in his career from this point. His fights are entertaining though, so I'll sit back and enjoy them and not put too much hope in him ever reaching top 10 p4p status. Maybe he can recapture a belt, almost certainly he'll be KO'd again... he can stick at it and make a reasonable career if he handpicks 3 or 4 times for every time he loses

As previously stated, he's still a brutal knockout waiting to happen. Golden Boy seem to know this which is why they will match him up against super carefully selected opponents till he finally scores a big money fight with Mayweather and gets iced out.

    Agree

I agree. Got to keep away from punchers though.

    Yup

    X 2

Doubt he passes as a Mayweather opponent without one win over a top 10 guy first.

khan is as good as he is going to get. he was never the best in his division and soon as he fights a good hitter he will get koed. there are certain punches he cant run from all night and when they land it will be lights out. lucas or danny will stop and peterson might be able to stop him now.

He ain't fighting until December, which is when he turns 27. Even then, he can't afford to fight a C class fighter like Diaz, he has to step it up. With a neutral referee, he won't be able to beat any of the top 140lb fighters. Unless they move him upto 147lbs where he will have to avoid so many fighters. Khan is done, before he was even started imo.

I need to see the fight again. Only had time last night to re-watch up until the end of the 4th round when he got knocked down, but I thought he was doing ok. Virgil's influence -- which, contrary to what many think on here, is the right influence -- was there to see. Tactically he's improving (and to a very small extent, technically too), but his punch resistance seems to have deteriorated to a worrying level. It was never good to begin with, but in the Maidana and Peterson fights it was at least the type that needed accumulation of shots to break down. The one on display against Diaz, however, appears to need only one shot. Khan was very fortunate not to be in with a big puncher.

He definitely needs more time with Virgil and dedicate himself to his craft outside of fight camps. But unfortunately, he's taking time out this summer and will jump straight into the Garcia-Peterson-Matthysse mix in December. Suicide.

Man Khan's career is an absolute mess, I think people need to accept he's fighting Mayweather in September, if Guerrero loses he becomes number two contender for WBC welterweight title and number 1 is Abregu whose with Top Rank now. If I were GB I would have gave him Paulie in England cause he can't beat Alexander, 140 and 147 are deep waters and Khan can't do it, could you imagine Thurman landing flush on Khan, I just don't see a future.
