1. There's been some talk in the Chavez vs. Whitaker thread, about King saying Randall fighting Whitaker, and the winner facing Chavez. If Randall did fight Whitaker, how do you see that fight going? 2. What do you consider Whitaker's finest performance in the ring all things considered 3. Which decision do you think was worse... The Ramirez 1 decision or the Chavez decision?
Frankie would have a hard time hitting him cleanly enough to get a decision, but Frankie did have a good jab and stinging right cross. Whitaker by decision 2 or 3 points
King did talk about having Randall fight Whitaker. This was after the first Randall/Chavez fight but before Randall/Chavez II. I was a big Randall fan and remember not wanting him to do it. It would have been at 147 lbs or a "catch weight." How would it have transpired? Pernell Whitaker W 12 Frankie Randall Whitaker had a plethora of fine performances. The best was probably against Greg Haugen. He totally shut out a very good fighter. Second would probably be Chavez, because he essentially shut down a great fighter and answered the question of who was the #1 pound for pound fighter. But as far as his peak form, it's probably the Haugen fight. Ramirez I was worse. The Chavez draw verdict was a travesty but at least it wasn't an "L."
1. Pernell fairly wide UD 2. Probably Greg Haugen for me 3. Ramirez 1, just because at least Whitaker didn't get a "Loss" on his record from the Chavez fight
1- Randall was pretty skilled (a little underrated IMO) but not Sweat Pea level of skill, Whitaker UD. 2- The second Ramirez fight was probably his best all around performance but he had a lot of fine performances against Haughen, Nelson, McGirt and Chavez. 3- The first Ramirez fight was IMO the worst decision of all time, the Chavez fight was awful but at least it was clear that they wanted to keep the 0 intact in Chavez record but a win would have probably caused a Riot, lol.
