How does he rate H2H against today's super middleweights? Say, the folks in the tourny (as well as Bute, Andrade, Green, Bika and the like).
Good question he wouldn't win but he would push the better fighters in close fights and beat a few of them. He ofcourse beat Benn, most had him being jobbed against him another time and the Eubank fight was very close.
I'd say at the least, one hell of a barometer for the Andres, or a guy like Green. Or even Pavlik moving up. :thumbsup
He was a decent fighter, probably as good as the current crop, more of a boxer mover. Don King fighter.
Interesting question...I don't know too much about the current guys to approach the question with confidence. Malinga was kind of inconsistent. His loss to Rocchigiani was disappointing because he performed below his best. Maybe it was the nerves of being in his first title fight or something, I'm not sure exactly. The Lindell Holmes fight was also one where I felt he could (and should) have done better. Holmes was solid, but nothing special. I think the Benn and Eubank fights showed he could be a tough customer when on song.
