I'm a bit of a "casual" boxing fan for want of a better word and was just wondering if someone could explain to me the meaning of the other titles under the world bodies jurisdiction. Namely the "Silver" title which I think the WBC have (?) and the "International" and "Inter-Continental" which most of the bodies seem to have.

I think one of em gets a top 10 ranking for its holder but I ain't sure which?

    Cheers for any help.

While this doesn't answer your question properly, I think it's pretty safe to say all these other titles may be described as "bull****".

Tbh the titles aren't worth a lot outside of the governing body that sanctions them,

The international/intercontinental belts will give fighters a ranking with the body & therefore improve they're chances of progressing with them.

To the normal boxing fan they aren't seen as a lot, however to the casual, promoters can market a fight by saying "joe bloggs the WBC flip flop champion" which automatically adds something (apparently)

It's worth noting the WBC silver tends to be head by the No.1 contender in any weight, before the main belt is contested..

Sorry yes I should of added that I know enough to know that they don't actually mean anything to anyone in reality, I meant more what they meant on paper - how are they justified by the sanctioning bodies etc.

    Thanks for your help.
