Felix Trinidad competes at 147 against the 50's welters such as. Robinson Gavilan Jordan DeMarco Graham Bratton Saxton Turner Basilio Akins Fusari Does he hold the title at some point?
I think he’s does pretty damn well. Tito is either overrated by his most ardent fans or underrated by those who dismissively just say “oh he’s so one dimensional”. Yes, he didn’t do a lot of different things but his strengths were great. Freakish power, great accuracy, poise and heart. He was fast too. If Tito had you at mid range it was his fight. Really good defensive fighters with long reaches are problems for him but shorter aggressive fighters are made to order for him. I don’t think he beats guys the class of Robinson or Gavilan but he’s live/favored over most of the rest.
I think when your as good as Tito you will hold a title in any era and beat other great fighters along the way. He was a great fighter !
I'm not sure. Great boxer-puncher. However Tito was known as one of those fighters that had to get hit to wake up. As a result he wasn't called chinny or china chin. But if those dudes mentioned here had to drop him. not sure he gets up.
So does Tito get into the time machine and go back to the 50's? If so, no way he makes 147 with the same day weigh in's. He would likely fight at 160 in those days. Tito was a huge Welterweight and would likely do quite well against those guys in my opinion. Sugar Ray and the Kid would obviously be the toughest fights for him because of there skill.
Well, since there was only one title back then, and with a guy named Robinson not to mention Basilio, and Gavilan around,,I'd say no title
