Billy started a thread unfirly bashing George Groves when he hadn't got his facts straight so it's hardly supprising that he has taken some stick. And to say on a fans forum that basically anyone who hasn't boxed opinions is worthless is a bit foolish.:good
he can call him a **** a twat a ***** anything he wants but to say "what have you ever done in boxing" is something no pro/trainer should say to a fan. 99% of posters on this forum have never even sparred. we are all boxing fans who love the sport. if Mayweather said that to a boxing fan that slaged him of the forum would go nuts trust me. fact is Nelson made a complete **** of himself today which he has done 100s of times before but everyone gave him a free pass cos he is involved in the game. he is just getting what he deserves and the fact he refused to apologised and then came out with the "what have you ever done in boxing" cliched line which is an easy way out of an argument just sums the guy up. a good trainer but complete twat some times.

Well if it was so unfair why has George put out an apology on his website and come on here as well to clear it up (and fair play to him for doing that). As for the second comment, he could have said a lot worse, if you (or anyone else) are going to give him **** then dont cry wolf if he bites back. Fair is fair.
Because Groves is a decent guy and wouldn't want to talk down to Oakey - he was probably mortified when he realised how the quote had been used. It was unfair because Billy hadn't read the article (despite saying he had initially) and started making all sorts of digs at George. When it turned out he hadn't read the article he was arrogant and dismissive, then when Groves clarified he tried to make out that it had obviously all been true and Groves was covering his tracks. He made himself look very foolish, arrogant and ignorant.
So ****in what - he should have gave youse little sensitive souls both barrels. You are a renowned Groves nuthugger so your interpretation of Billy's thread is warped in bias. In my book, pros, trainers have carte blanche to **** off anyone of youse keyboard warriors who are taking pot shots.:yep
If you read the comments I don't think I did give him any real stick. And as far as the Groves apologising thing, he apologised for how his taken out of context comments may have appeared. He didn't appologise for calling him a **** fighter because he never did which is the point. If you read Groves's comments, if anything he was bigging the guy up. And no, Billy shouldn't respond to fans on a fans forum by saying basically if you haven't boxed you know ****. He should have the professionalism to rise above it. It gives this forum credibility having the like of Billy posting on here but I think he made some errors today. Yes some of the responses were overly harsh but it was to be expected.
keyboard warriors like you ya mean?? seriously if Billy doesn't wanna take flack he should go to boxrec where they treat any pro like a god. Someone on there had "Smigga" vs DeGale a draw until the stoppage and actually said "i think Smith would have come on in the championship rounds and stopped him" i am not ****ing about. and when do I nuthug Groves?? All I have ever said is that its a closer fight than many think between him and DeGale and have said numerous times i think JD wins.
Maybe you personally didnt give him a lot of ****, but a few people did and he has got a load of **** from various posters in the past. The basic point I am making is that it is very unreasonable to expect him to act like a saint in such circumstances and then play the 'but your are pro - you should not be talking to me like that' card. That is not on. As I stated in the Groves thread, Nelson had a legitimate concern with Groves comments, fair enough, Groves did the right thing and came out and clarified and apologised. That should be the end of it - but a few dramas are adamant that they will go on a crusade to get their pound of flesh.
You should have a little respect Rob whatever you privately think because the place wouldn't be the same without the Pro's and you cheapen the arguement when you resort to name calling.
