I think that Lees had started to age by this time, but it is an interesting little read. Hopefully, I will find a few more tidbits on Lees, who is very underated today. He won his Australian Championship Against Bill Farnan, who had just KOd Peter Jackson, and gave Jackson a great fight in losing his Australian title.
here is brief account of Lees v Slavin where Lees gave a good account despite being well past it. And here is draw with Goddard (again he was old b this time) but still, this is a very good result against one of the best fighters of the time. Lees Had Jackson down Early in the fight, Seems to have been ahead into the early 20 rounds, before getting caught and stopped late in the fight. Sounds like a very competitive fight between two world class fighters.

Yeah dates show you are correct. And i also see Peter Jackson is referred to as Professor peter Jackson in a couple of fights around this time.
