Of course....:smoke Toney isn't a *****. He sought out a new challenge in anther sport and he's not going to back down. Hell....he's had probably the toughest first fight for any MMA fighter in facing Randy. He'll probably lose but I gurantee Toney will do better than most of these guys who are writing him off. I won't be surprised if Toney did pull out a "W" at the end of the day. I'd be less surprised if I saw Randy come out hand raised but Toney isn't a cake walk no matter what anyone says. They are just HOPING he'll embarrass himself b/c it's the whole "MMA vs Boxing" thing. MMA fans want James to get knocked off so they can say MMA is better than boxing....Boxing fans want James to dust off Randy b/c they want to say boxing is better than MMA. It's bull ****...different sports and it's based on individual talent and ability. James isn't a Martial artist or wrestler, but he can fight and he's a better boxer than anyone in MMA. He's got a shot.
What is kind of crazy is how dangerous and sneaky Toney is with short punches. Toney might just redefine, "Dirty boxing." He's better at deception and short punches than anyone I can remember except maybe Bernard Hopkins. Toney might be able to floor people with a short upppercut and those small gloves.. Not the most powerful boxer, but with those small gloves I think Randy would do well to take him to the ground and not try and fight him on the fence.
I'd like to see Toney win this to be honest. He's one of boxing's great ****-talkers, in that it's actually enjoyable to watch him talk ****. That being said, anyone who thinks Couture will stand & trade with Toney is way off. I can see him being submitted early.
Sounds like a waste. I love Randy and love his attitude and him wanting to test himself in this classic style match but im kind of disapointed he would go for this. Why is the commission allowing this ? A few months ago Jeff Curran was taking on a guy with like 6 fights and they made him change a few days before the fight to fight a guy with abouyt 20 bouts. Also the excuse by the courts was Mayorga was to inexperienced to fight Din Thomas. Ok well Toney has no MMA experience either and hes fighting a guy with a billion title fights in the octagon.
I would'nt get too excited guys. Lots of time between now and the fight date. I still say this fight won't happen.
