Agreed my friend. That impressed me far more than bombing the guy out. We all know he can do that. But he showed real nice defence, he picked off all of Atoli's wild attacks with his shoulder roll, reminded me of the Bellew/Garcia sparring footage. Atoli wasn't well schooled or very considered in his approach but it was still good to see, we often see prospects getting hit by lesser opponents.
Bellew v Cleverly doesnt make sense for me. They are both up and comers, why would one want to risk it so they have to rebuild from not far off scratch with a very low reward?
It's so hard NOT to get carried away with Tony's power BUT i'm telling you now, you aren't seeing how technically good he is yet because of it. Superb boxer, picks his shots beautifully. Has everything you could want. He can bang, has good footwork, his defense is pretty good too (the way he drops his shoulder and tees of perfectly). He will without a shadow of doubt in my mind SMASH Cleverley. If he doesn't beat Cleverley I will leave this forum for good :good As long as his left pectoral doesn't let him down he will be a force on the world stage in a few years :good
I seriously don't think its going to happen though. I'd be very surprised if Frank did it. He'd do it if he considered one to be far lesser but he probably fancies both to get a world title so it doesn't make sense on a promotional level to kill off one of your fighters.
Why would you want to protect two fighters? The best should move onto World honours, manafacturing straps for both for a big unification is pointless. If Clev can't beat Bellew now and vice ersa, what's the point of them challenging the big boys? That's the way I see it, this whole potecting attitude is the reason 'boxings gone downhill IMO Bellew wants the fight :deal
I dont expect it to happen mate either (not soon). The only way it will happen within the next year for me is if Cleverley vacates to go onto world honours, Tony collects the Lonsdale and EBU and Cleverley is found to be wanting and to have stepped up too early to world level. We may see it then :good
Yeah Bellew + Cleverly doesn't add up to frank and rightly so. Without this it could potentially subtract a champion from franks stable.
though he came across a bit of a twat at the end of the fight. giving it big when all he had done is beat an afrobum. his defence looked suspect to me tonight tbh. Clev would take him apart if it happens this year
why??? if DeGale beat a nothing african in 1 round and start shouting "WHOS NEXT" people on here would have a field day. I rate tony but that performance was nothing to shout about. he has the title now lets see him fight someone decent.
