To be honest mate, I haven't been able to bring myself to watch the Alexander fight, was he that ineffective? You would expect Junior to score early doors at least.

 

We want to see the jab of Buchanan and the defence/evasive skills of Benny Lynch in your next outing.

And damn....get it recorded. It would be great to see.

 

Easy ask then, how about the destructive power of Tony Bellew?

whenever i watch a prospect in a fight against "sub standard" opposition I always try and look out for something new from them. something that shows they have been working in the gym, getting good sparring and are improving with every fight.

tonight with Tony I saw nothing new. I already new that he is a HUGE puncher. he uses his physical attributes to his advantage (which a hell of allot of fighters dont do and its frustrates me). got a beautiful jab which is a hurtful punch and his right hand is world class already. but i already new this from watching the 4-5 other Bellew fights i have seen.

I fully admit now I am going be over critical but i feel like I can be because Bellew was giving it the Big i am in the ring at the end of the fight and if he wants to do that after beating a complete shame opponent he should be ready for critics. and i do like to play devils advicate at times (its a forum)

the guy he faced tonight was really really really ****. he was so slow, has no technical abilty if i saw him punching a bag in a fitness first i wouldnt think he had been near a boxing ring. also notice he had a very small reach compared to Tony. With that he was still able to land 5-6 shots in that first minute. none of the shots were clean, and looked like they were going to hurt, and they were pretty much grazeing Bellew, but if atoli moore can even come close to his glove touching your chin then whats Cleverly or a top 20 fighter going to do. and thats where Bellew is going because he has the potential to be world class.

i would like to see Tony in with someone coming up from super middle that has a bit of speed. i no he has faced allot of cruiserweights and even heavys, but the elite at Light heavy in Pascal and Dawson, and the guy he wants to fight most in cleverly have one thing in common and thats is speed. fast hands and combinations. he atoli moore can even come close to you then those guys will have a field day.

i wanna point out that i had sky plused the card so was 20 mins behind everyone. i really rate bellew but i was so frustrated at the **** he faced in his first title fight which should of been a test and as he was knocking him out i was thinking to myself "i hope he just does his interview with sky and says i am a different class to that guy nobody in the UK will step up to the plate" but the whole "whos next" thing generally annoyed me. and i no i have said it before in this thread but if degale said it you guys would go ****ing nuts about him being a complete twat, which he most deffinatley is and tony isnt and i expect better from him.

I think a fighter with speed will be able to hit him too often so would like to see him in with some quicker guys. he will walk through anyone domestic (excluding Clev) so i dont wanna see him hang around at domestic level. get some guys over from the states. Ottis Griffin would be perfect.

to sum it up, I rate Bellew but his performance tonight told us nothing new and i wish he would save the big talk "WHOS NEXT" for when he beats a credible opponent.

 

I give Witter a few rounds im not sure if they were out of pure blindness though. I haven't even tried watching it a second time. I remember it being on ESPN a few days later i couldn't even bring myself to watch it. The timing was so far off it was hard hard to watch. He did look to get into the fight around the 4th or 5th but he wasn't looking good at all.

 

Thats a fair post Rob but I think Bellew giving it the "big 'un" afterwards had a lot to do with fighting on a big Liverpool card. I wouldn't read too much into it.

this may be true. he does really get into which actually worries be to be honest, if he is getting that excited over a win over atoli moore what would he do if he beats clev in 2 rounds at goodision park. get his **** out wave it around then have a heart attack

ive seen a few posts in this thread saying they were impressed with his defence tonight, i really dont see it but know tony will come good in the long run.

really dont wanna see him in with any more africans. people mentioning mcintosh in another thread. it would be fun to watch but really tony would smash him apart in 2 rounds so whats the point. i wanna see this "class defence" tested agaisnt some quick fighters.

 

I'd love to see him give it one last run, how Alexander & Bradley have performed after the fight has to give him confidence seeing as he was getting on a bit at the weight. He give Bradley a good fight and had some moments against Alexander. Bonsu would be a good comeback fight for the Euro title

Some good points but are you absolutely sure he 'grazed' him 6 or 7 times in the first minute? I didn't see that but I'll have to bow to your view on this since you've watched it intently on a big screen until I can rewatch it.

 

were gonna see a good african tomorrow night though.

in advance of you reading this thread tony sorry if i am being overly harsh. congrats on the win its just frustrating as i no your better than the level youve been fighting at. no one will no this more than yourself.
