As far as I am aware he can do the weight ok for now provided his training camp is long enough. Short notice was what did him against Clev. I expect him to make 175 without too many dramas

he looked slim vs clev and was in a training camp for mckenzie. i think no matter what its a bad cut for him. might even affect his punch resistance and sharpness which have looked questionable in his lasdt 2 fights. cruiser beckons.

Would love Bellew to do a job on Cleverly after this fight.

I think Bellew should go upto Cruiserweight. Easier division for him and he won't have issues making the weight.

He just tweeted that he is 1lb over the limit, so 176lbs

Just to say while he was in training for McKenzie the Clev fight was much sooner so why should he have been near the limit? Weight-cutting is a science designed to help a fighter hit their magic number at the weigh-in and not before, having shed pounds gradually. Therefore making weight for a 48-hour job bears little comparison to hitting the mark for a fight scheduled 12 weeks or more in advance.

Probably after a workout or something. Why would he be 1 pound over the limit with 5 days to go.

He'll make weight fine and he'll turn McKenzie over comfortably, this is a no brainer. Next stop world title fight with Clev.

As for him stepping up to cruiser..... why would you? There are far better fights for him here if he can make a good go of it with Cleverly.

How would everyone see a Bellew ~ Cleverley fight going? If it is anything like their press conference we could be in for a treat.

That said he has to turn Ovil over first, we all know how devastating he can be over 3 rounds!

Clev has to be regarded as the clear fav. I know he keeps winning but he can definitely box better than his last few outings and he should have too much for Bellew.

That said, Tony is no mug and this could be really good fun in the build up because he'll believe in himself and does stand a chance.

just for the record. bellew had around 8 weeks before he was fighting mckenzie so he was well over his fighting weight when he got the call to fight cleverly. i can personally guarantee that bellew done everything he could to make that weight. but with only 3 days notice he couldnt shift the weight off in time. its not unusual for a fighter to be a stone or even much more over weight with 8 weeks to go till there next fight. he does the weight fine when he has had a full camp, but to ask any1 to shift huge amounts of weight in only 3 days is a big ask of any man, and it wasnt for the lack of trying, he got very close to the weight but unfortunately he fell a little short.

i for 1 am glad he didnt make the weight because imo bellew will beat cleverly, i think hes made for bellew, he goes forward and doesnt take a backward step. my prediction is a bellew k.o mid rounds, but saying that cleverly is obviously a great fighter so bellew will need a full training camp and will need to be at his best. at 3 days notice cleverly would have had too much of an advantage and this fight is what allot of fans want to see, so they should both get a full training camp and we can see who is the best. :bbb
