    I like Tony and this is just a guess, as I have wondered this as well. I think they wanted to keep it simple and not confuse him...sounds mean, but I really don’t mean it to be.

    I think Tony was an upper club-level guy. Two of his losses, IIRC, were by first-round KO ... one of them to John LoCicero, who was a bona fide puncher so no disgrace there.

    Never beat anybody of note but I think he handled a few journeymen pretty well.

    In 1977 he fought at a place that is a very short walk from where my grandparents lived. Bobby Halpern and Johnny Turner also were on the card that night. I was too young though, so I didn't get to go.

    I could almost see the brilliant Ross Martin (the real star of WWW) as his trainer in that picture.
