OK...so the Dempsey fans are going to pick Firpo and the Louis fans are going to pick Galento for the most part, but creeping through the chinks in the wall of nut-huggery there will be a couple of posters with an objective eye...you know who you are, so let's have it, who do you pick & why?

I believe it would be the most unsightly fight of all times.

From what I've seen, Firpo wins a sloppy fight.

I would guess power to be about even.

Galento takes this no question and not because I'm a nuthugger of either he's simply better.

Far better amateur and proffesional record, fought and beat better fighters and gave world class fighters hell. Much more durable which in a slugfest (which this is gonna be) will probably be the deciding factor. More tough, more durable, more proven and power wise there's not much difference if at all in fact everything I've heard and the people they managed to KO points to Galento being the harder puncher.

Would hardly say he beat better fighters ... he was managed extremely carefully on his title shot run ... he was soundly defeated by both Baer brothers, Max being far past his prime ... He defeated Nova in an all time nasty, foul filled fight ... I think it is a hell of a wild toss up ... both could crush with their power. Both were nasty street fighter types. Both showed tremendous heart ... both floored and hurt all time great champs although it is clear that Firpo did more damage to Dempsey than Galento did to Louis ... who the hell knows ? A wild one that could be a brawl of a clutch filled , flu infested boor ...

You're kidding right? At least Galento knew how to get low in a crouch, Firpo's defense was non existent.

Galento the much more skilled of the 2, Firpo the taller stronger harder hitter. A toss up really

Tony Galento beat Eddie Blunt, Al Ettore, Leroy Haynes, Nathan Mann, Harry Thomas, Lou Nova...all ring magazine top 10 fighters. I would say he beat the better, more lively fighters.

So knocking out two world title challengers on your way to a title shot is considered managed carefully?

THe difference is Galento could take a punch. He was far more durable than Luis Firpo. I also think Galento set up his punches better, Firpo was nothing but a bar room brawler, Galento knew how to feint.

They brawl all over the ring. Firpo probably gets dropped 5 times but keeps getting up until Galento thumbs out his eye to keep him down for the 10.

Yeah, probably like Galento/Nova. In truth, Nova was better than Firpo.

Judging by film, Galento takes this. While some would say he lacked "skill", he had a fight plan and an approach to maximize his assets and minimize his deficiencies. Meanwhile, Firpo just looks lost most of the time, completely clueless.
