He's having one more fight (this month against Michael Banbula) and says he's calling it a day afterwards. http://www.eastsideboxing.com/news.php?p=23733&more=1 Don't like them regarding the WBU as a proper title :-(
Ever since he was caught positive for cocaine he has never been the same fighter. A good domestic fighter and a real figher always in scraps.
He will certainly be missed. Gave us fans some top scraps and achieved a good amount. Well done to him.
Best of Luck Tony mate... Your a gent and it's a shame your packing in, I wish you all the best in the future...:good
Good luck Tony...A tough gutsy operator, always in a good dust up and never disapointed... Always gave the paying punter value for money...:yep Best Wishes for the future...:happy
Tony Oakey is one of the best people i have meet in all my years in boxing, hes having this one then retiring as his girlfreind is due there first baby a few weeks after the fight.i just wish i could understand him when he phones me lol.
Good decision I feel, when you get sparked by McIntosh the writings on the wall. Especially where Oakey is coming from in his career having been known for being a real tough battler in the ring, thats a sign it isn't there any longer. Solid career he's had, good example of a fighter making the most of what he had.
Achieved a lot, seems like a decent fella, gave us some great fights, good luck to him hope he can go out with a win.
Won't be in Portsmouth that weekend :-( Would have loved to see Oakeys final scrap as well, been a great domestic fighter all through his career who was involved in some great scraps....
