Which fighters would you say threw the most powerful jabs? (This won't necessarily be the fighters you think had the "best" jabs).

    Foreman for mine.

Old George sent Holyfield flying backwards from a jab, it was unbelievably powerful.

    Cheers.

Great picks of course but who else would you list? (I just edited the thread title).

Liston and Foreman at heavyweight. Ike Quartey had a very heavy and punishing jab at WW.

I reckon Ike Quartey had a particularly heavy jab on a pound for pound basis. He really used to step through with it.

Marvin Hagler also hit very hard with the jab.

Frank Bruno was another heavyweight with a really powerful jab.

Out of the modern brigade I reckon Miguel Cotto had a very good, heavy jab.

    Cheers.

One more from me, James " Buster " Douglas.

His jab was both fast and very heavy. Sort of like combining the Liston, Foreman, Louis type jab with the Holmes - Ali jab when Holmes or Ali utilised the power jab. Buster could double up with a very heavy jab which is-was a very rare ability. Joe Louis was another fighter who could double up on the power jab.

The best jabbers like Holmes, Ali etc have many variations on the jab unlike the more plodding, heavy fisted types who tend to throw the power jab only.

    Cheers All.

Liston, though it was sometimes counterproductive because it propelled his opponent back out of punching range.
Foreman related in his autobio how he abandoned his great jab for the Moorer fight, and how it killed him to do so.

Monzon controlled his opponents movements with his jab.
