I agree. Plus, Chagaev didn't JUST beat the Giant. He done more things, and really more things for the sport. He got rid of that skum Ruiz. And for a Ruiz hater like him, Id think he would put Chagaev at the number 2 slot, witch he DEFINATLY deserves. Plus a UD win over Virchis. Peter beat a old and fat Toney, and might punching McCline, both in uninpressive fashions. Thats obsured!

At anything, Peter should be number 4 or so. Post number one has the best rankings imo.

Chagaev did not beat beat Virchis by UD, but by MD, in a controversial bout, that went to Virchis by many who seen it. The following is the results from the corner of the judges:

~ judge: Guy Jutras 114-115 | judge: Arno Pokrandt 112-116 | judge: Joachim Jacobsen 114-114 ~ (for Chagaev)

Only judge Pokrandth gave Chagaev a decent win, Judge Jutras had Virchis losing by only one point, and Judge Jacobsen had them tied. Where did u get the UD?

 

I do, greatly. Although these are not your legendary fighters, they still put on a good show. And I think the heavyweight division is gradually improving, looking from an American perspective, but very quickly improving, looking from a global perspective.

After that it's quite a bit subjective. I would consider ranking Sultan above Ruslan just because he fights more frequently but for now he remains a spot below The White Tyson.

 

You are right! Some ring observers had Virchis ahead on points after 11 very lame and boring rounds.However,our respected and very knowledgeable fellow poster merry alias flurry alias universum attended that show and watch Virchis vs Chagaev live.According to him there was no doubt that Chagaev won that fight.
Chagaev and Virchis are stable mates.They didnt want to fight each other,and none of this pair really forced the action in their encounter going for his opponent trying to connect with some good punches.Obviously they knew each other very well and respected each other a lot.No telling punch was scored up to the last and final 12 round of their encounter.
It was a very boring and bizarre fight with two fighters who didnt want to fight each other.IMO neither Chagaev nor Virchis can really be called the winner of that fight.

 

He needs a another decent win like his TKO vs. Hoffman to get a shot IMO. Maybe against an American based fighter like Thompson, Chambers, Arreola, etc.

Even then he'd be hard pressed to petition for a shot based on just those wins alone. If nothing else there's a lot of depth in the HW division.

If Dimentrenko could fight & beat a Valuev or Ruiz type fighter he'd have an excellent argument.

 

Peter deserves the 3 spot, Peter beat Mccline and Toney, compared to Iggy who beat Holyfield and Briggs. Mccline beat Briggs and Toney beat Holyfield just a couple years ago, thats why it would be hard for me to put Iggy ahaead of Peter. It seems like Chagaev has yet to dominate a top contender, he just has very close matches with guys like Ruiz, Valuev, and Virchis. I could understand putting him ahead of Peter, but its close IMO.

 

Would you know where I can get to see a tape of Virchis v Bidenko. I heard that was a great fight. Or even Bidenko v Valuev?
