Having just watched 2 episodes of legendary nights covering the bouts between Bowe/Golota and Chavez/Taylor, I could only notice just how tragic they turned out to be. Both were very entertaining fights, but ultimately paved the way to the end for 2 fighters.

Bowe would never be the same having fought Holyfield three times, and he was a shadow of his former self in his two bouts with Golota. I don't consider it to be a tragedy that Golota threw the fights, because that is due to his own stupidity, but I can't say Bowe deserved to have such a short prime. When they shown his speech from the Holyfield era compared with his last 2 years in Boxing, it was shocking.

I feel even worse for Taylor, who dominated Chavez for 12 rounds, and without doubt deserved to get the verdict. I see Richard Steele's point of view in that if he feels the fighter cannot carry on, he has no option but to stop the fight. Reality is, regardless of who won the fight, Taylor would never be the same fighter again. This was most evident in his rematch with Chavez, a fight he was dominated and eventually knocked out in, despite handling Chavez easily in the first fight. They also showed Taylor's speech difference from '91 to more recent, and I could almost cry when he talks about beating chavez and being regarded as the best fighter in the world. It wasn't to be.

I watched both those "Legendary Nights" as well, they were both well done, it showed how one or two fights can change an oppenents career or even his life forever.

You cant help but to feel sorry for Taylor, he sounded completely brain dead in the small clip they showed of him in 2001 or 02 I believe.
