They say punchers are born not made but who are some of the punchers who didn't start off as such but with the right technique etc they were developed into devastating punchers? The one right now that comes to mind is the great Tommy Hearns. I would also liked to be schooled on others who have this same case

Benny Leonard worked diligently for a protracted period explicitly to cultivate his punching power. Reportedly, he abruptly achieved a quantum breakthrough which he was never able to analyze, apparently a mental adjustment allowing him the mastery of leverage. In "Championship Fighting," Dempsey claimed that it took him around a quarter century to be able to successfully detail how he did what he did, by which time Benny was no longer with us. But there seems little doubt that he, like Hearns, developed knockout power after he began competing. Benny's early death may have deprived us of the mother of all boxing manuals. (Gans was another who didn't live nearly long enough to be able to translate his intuition to explanation.)

    Thomas Hearns.

One of the greatest P4P punches off all time and had a surprisingly low KO % as an amateur.

Kennedy McKinney's trainer (forget who, maybe Thell Torrence?) claimed that McKinney was a learned puncher similar to Hearns, learning how to use his rangy physique to get leverage.
